Maira brings four years of professional grant writing and program management experience and has served in various roles that center the delivery of public service through equity, inclusion, and diversity. She has successfully written, managed, and administered millions of dollars in grant funding from foundation, State, and Federal awards.

After graduating with her master’s degree in Public Administration from California State University, San Bernardino, Maira joined the County of Riverside’s Housing, Homelessness Prevention and Workforce Solutions (HHPWS), as the Assistant Regional Organizer for the Inland Empire Regional Planning Unit. Here, she was an integral part of the inter-agency collaboration that secured millions of dollars in state grant funding toward employment re-entry for the justice-involved, unemployed, and employment skill development for underserved communities throughout the Inland Empire.

Prior to joining RPPG, Maira served as the sole grants professional with the City of Redlands (California). During her tenure, she spearheaded the administration and management of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds and coordinated the public-private grant application to the Department of Housing and Community Development’s Homekey 2 program that resulted in the largest Homekey Program award to date for a single project in California—totaling $30 million.

Maira also holds two CSU Certificates: one in Nonprofit Leadership and another in Grant Writing and Administration. She has served in public and private sector areas pertaining to public health, housing equity, homeless advocacy, mental health, workforce development, and grant administration for government service delivery. Maira’s passion for grant writing is rooted in empowering change makers by securing the funding they need to deliver positive change in their communities.
