Sharon Gonsalves has joined the Renne Public Policy Group (RPPG) as Director of Government Affairs, adding another lobbyist and policy expert to the firm’s growing Sacramento team. Sharon brings over 15 years of State Capitol and legislative advocacy experience to the firm.

“We are excited that Sharon has joined the RPPG team,” said RPPG Managing Director of Government Affairs Dane Hutchings. “She brings a proven background in advancing the interest of public entities. Her expertise in polices including transportation, housing, natural resources, banking and other areas critical to local government will certainly enhance our firm’s ability to provide tailored service to each of our clients.”

Spending nearly a decade working in both houses of the State Legislature and the past five years lobbying for local agencies, Sharon has a unique understanding of how to navigate the State’s complex legislative and budget process. This experience has proven critical when advocating for increased funding for transportation, infrastructure, water, conservation efforts and other environmental protections through the California budget process, Cap-and-Trade and bond-related legislation.

“Local governments are facing complex, ongoing issues that run the gamut of policy areas,” said Gonsalves. “At a time when the State is facing historic budget deficits, it is important that local agencies remain vigilant in protecting both critical funding and local decision making. I am looking forward to joining RPPG and using my experience to protect and advance the interests of our clients.”
